Another good performance, probably the best yet. We look more like a team every week, and these are the sort of games we will be winning later in the season.
We started brightly, with Jake Wesley and Jamie Wickham causing a lot of problems for the Broad Oak defence. Despite spending much of the first ten minutes camped in the opposition half, we went behind to virtually the first Broad Oak attack of the half.
We continued to press and Jake Wesley got a deserved equaliser after a strong run by Jack Holden and good work by Jamie Wickham. Then on the stroke of half time we gave away a sloppy goal, although the linesman later conceded that he had missed an offside.
We continued to defend well in the second half, particularly Mark Holden and man-of-the-match Thomas Ryan, and Jamie Hards made a series of outstanding saves. Broad Oak got a third, when a foul on Greg Byrne went unnoticed. We lost a bit of pace up front when Jake Wesley was substituted following a lecture from the referee for an incident which might have brought a red card.
The week-on-week improvement is there for all to see, and hopefully we can gain confidence with a win next week against Foresters 2000. |
