Mike Ide adds to his tally of League goals

In the second part of our double header against Crowborough Town we got off to a good start when Michael Ide scored after only two minutes, but the players didn't have the same spark, and the Crowborough players were far from demoralised and made a real fight of it.

Our finishing wasn't quite as clinical as in the first match, and it wasn't until the ninth minute that Chris Newbury scored our second. Ross McCarter then scored his sixth goal of the day before Chris Newbury scored his seventh in the last minute of the half to give us a 4-0 half-time lead.

Chris Newbury kindly offered to take over in goal to give Jamie Hards a run-out on the pitch, and after Mike Ide and Ross McCarter had scored, the most unlikely substitutions of the season were made. Martin Hill and Tom Ryan were taken off along with Greg Byrne, giving the team an unlikely central defensive partnership of Mark Holden and Dan Tester, but they were very impressive in keeping Crowborough at bay.

Michael Ide completed his hat-trick in the 28th minute, before scoring two more, the second of which was his 30th for the team surpassing the 29 scored by Jamie Wickham. Ross McCarter took us to double figures for the second time in the day as he completed another hat-trick, his eighth goal of the day.

Lots of good performances again, but Michael Ide was chosen as man of the match for rediscovering his confidence and his goalscoring touch.
