A great team performance at home to Uckfield United. We usually beat them, but we dominated the game from start to finish. Despite lots of early pressure we couldn't make the breakthrough and Uckfield occasionally caused Jamie Hards to intervene when they caught us on the break.

Ross McCarter and Chris Newbury had both gone close, but Ross McCarter broke the deadlock after 21 minutes when he lofted the ball over the Uckfield goalkeeper and a minute later Chris Newbury slotted home to double the advantage.

After 28 minutes a Chris Newbury shot was deflected in off Ross McCarter's shoulder (but Ross generously refused to claim the goal) and a minute later Ross McCarter scored with his right foot. He completed his hat trick in the last minute of the first half.

With a 5-0 half-time lead we were able to withdraw the hat-trick hero, but we continued to dominate the game. Second half sub Mike Ide shot narrowly wide before Ian Dipple scored in the 44th minute. Three minutes later Mike Ide set up Ben Spring who scored with a powerful shot. Mike Ide got on the scoresheet after he knocked the ball past the goalkeeper and followed up to make sure the ball crossed the line.

By the end of the game the Tonbridge players were queueing up to try to get on the scoresheet, with even Max Turner and Ollie Leigh forcing saves from the Uckfield 'keeper, but Ben Spring completed the scoring after 62 minutes, again set up by Mike Ide.

There were lots of good performances, but Ross McCarter was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his first-half goals that set up what turned out to be an easy win.
