| The most pointless game we've played so far, in a shambolic end of season programme which defies logic. The first two meaningless matches had produced a yellow card and a serious injury to Jamie Wickham, so we were not exactly thrilled to be given another away game against Langton Green. Three of our last four games have been away against Langton Green. Tonbridge were without three key players in central defender Martin Hill, playmaker Chris Newbury and goal threat Jamie Wickham. Both sides started as though they'd rather be somewhere else, but the first half became quite open with chances at either end. Chris Phillips was particularly effective on the right wing, giving Langton's left-back such a torrid time that he was switched at half-time. Langton Green took the lead in the 29th minute after Chris Stewart made a bizarre attempt to clear the ball and actually flicked it into our penalty area, where James Faulkner dived over the resulting shot.
Langton doubled their advantage in the 15th minute of the second half, with a mishit shot that James Faulkner again dived over. Tonbridge responded by chasing the game, which put more pressure on the back three, where Tom Ryan was having to defend on his own against three attackers at times. Langton got their third in the 64th minute with a good finish. In spite of excellent performances by Tom Ryan and Chris Phillips, Greg Byrne was chosen as man-of-the-match for a superb display in midfield.
