Tom Ryan heads clear against Foresters 2000

A disappointing end to our Crowborough League season, losing against Foresters 2000 despite dominating the game.
Although we created more chances, we seemed to generously give the Foresters goalkeeper an hour's catching practice. There was only one shot out of all those we produced in the game hit with anything like venom, and that was when Chris Nissen shot wide near the end.
There were a lot of positives. We are creating the chances and there was some nice interplay and passing, although the communication is still poor. Better finishing this season could have seen us mid-table, but we have come a long way since our opening league match when we lost 7-0.
We started the game strongly and Michael Ide seemed to have given us the lead, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Shortly afterwards Foresters 2000 went ahead when the ball went across the penalty area and Jamie Hards was wrongfooted in goal. We continued to create chances and Jamie Wickham chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to level the scores. Foresters 2000 went ahead just before half time when they scored with a well-hit free kick from the centre circle.
We created a lot of chances in the second half, but Foresters 2000 got the next goal. A Foresters 2000 player handled the ball on the goalline and Jamie Wickham coolly despatched the resulting penalty with five minutes remaining and we continued to press for the equaliser, with Mark Harrison having two good chances, but Foresters 2000 got their fourth just before the end.
Jack Holden had an excellent game deputising for his namesake at right back, for which he was named man-of-the-match.
