Jamie Wickham completes his hat-trick against Crowborough Town

A thoroughly professional win in our first Tournament Shield match against Crowborough Town.
We established our superiority from the kickoff and played the first ten minutes in the opposition half. We did have to survive an early scare however when Ben Spring cleared off the line. A minute later we went ahead when a Crowborough defender deflected a cross from Jake Wesley past his goalkeeper. A second goal followed from Matt English, and Jamie Wickham scored two goals in two minutes towards the end of the first half.
Stand-in goalkeeper Jack Holden was rarely troubled in the second half, and we continued to dominate. Michael Ide scored a hat-trick to put us 7-0 up, and Matt English got his second goal of the game, tapping in after a fine run from Ben Spring. Jamie Wickham completed his hat-trick before Jake Wesley, chipped in with two goals, the first a header and the second probably the best finish of the match just before the final whistle.
It was a good performance, admittedly against a weaker team, but weak teams still have to be beaten and we've been guilty of not taking our chances in previous matches. Hopefully the resounding win will give the boys confidence, and we can put together a string of good performances to finish the season.
