The 11-a-side season finished with an away match against Dallington, who are always hard to beat on their own pitch. We were still without Chris Newbury and Jamie Wickham, but having already wrapped up the title at Langton Green it was a matter of how many points we would win by.

The performance was still a little lacklustre, but we made all the early running and created most of the chances. Our best chance was a shot by Jack Staines on the turn that was tipped on to the bar and over. Then halfway through the first half, against the run of play, we went behind to a well-placed shot. The goal encouraged Dallington and they got more into the game, but Ben Spring got the equaliser in the 35th minute, as he got to the ball before the Dallington keeper and poked it home, cementing his position as top scorer this season.

Then with a minute of the first half to go new signing Jack Staines decided to have a shot from near the halfway line and the ball sailed over the goalkeeper's head for one of the goals of the season.

We should have gone on to win the game, but Dallington got an equaliser three minutes into the second half. The referee awarded a free kick against Martin Hill, although it appeared that it was he who was being pushed. The free kick was saved on the line by James Faulkner, but he knocked it back into the path of a Dallington player.

The rest of the half was rather uneventful, with neither side looking as though it could score. Our passing was probably as bad as it has been all season, but it is difficult on a small, sloping and bobbly pitch.

Man of the match was Chris Phillips, with his second lively performance in a row, marking a return to form after a fairly quiet season.
