A difficult test at the Rusthall 6-a-Side Tournament. We had a strong squad, but the quality of the oppostion was very strong.

We started well in our first match against old enemies Langton Green Sports, and we took the lead early in the first half through captain Ben Spring. We were hanging on a little in the second half, but we were good value for our 1-0 victory.

In our second match, we again took the lead through Chris Newbury towards the end of the first half, but this was rather against the run of play. Kingfisher B came back strongly and got an equaliser in the second half, but we hung on and could have stolen a win when Chris Newbury hit the crossbar with a stinging shot at the end of the match. Nevertheless, after two matches we topped the group.

The third match was against Tonbridge Angels A team. Having shunted most of their regular players into their B team, we faced a team that featured Matt Foreman, Jake Beecroft and Jacob Martin. The Tonbridge Town boys played as though they expected to lose, amd they did, 3-0.

We hadn't recovered our confidence by the time we faced Tunbridge Wells Foresters Colts in our fourth match. We took the lead through Ross McCarter, but lost 3-1.

Our final match was against group winners and eventual tournament winners Southwark A. They outplayed us and raced into a 3-0 lead, but we came back strongly and should have got a consolation goal at the end.

So it was tough, and even the souped-up Angels side failed to qualify for the semi finals. We did however win the Fair Play award.

Ben Spring was chosen as man-of-the-match, because he scored the goal that gave us a good start and our only victory.
