A great performance away in the first round of the Knockout Cup, against Wealden Colts from the division above us.
Mark Holden broke the deadlock after eight minutes when he burst into the area, rode a challenge and mishit a shot that turned into the perfect lob.
Nine minutes later we doubled the lead when Mike Ide latched onto a great through ball from Greg Byrne and rounded the keeper to slot home from a tight angle.
Mike Ide got his second goal shortly before half time when he finished well after Ian Dipple had won a free kick on the right wing.
We had to weather a storm at the start of the second half, but we held firm at the back. The first-half goalscorers were taken off, but we went further ahead when Ben Spring got his head to a cross from the increasingly influential Chris Newbury.
There was a slight wobble as Wealden got a goal back after a slip from Dan Tester, but Chris Newbury calmed everyone's nerves with a great run and shot to give us an unassailable 5-1 lead.
Greg Bryne had another excellent game in midfield, Ben Spring was always a threat down the left, Mike Ide took his chances well, and Chris Stewart filled in well for the injured Tom Ryan in the second half, but Chris Newbury was chosen as man-of-the-match for a great all-round performance.
