A disappointing result and performance away to Tenterden, in what should have been a winnable game. I don't know whether the clocks going back had anything to do with the performance, but at times our midfield seemed to be in a different time zone to the ball.
We managed to fall two goals behind in the first half before the midfield got going. Eventually the pressure paid off and we reduced the deficit when Jamie Wickham scored on the stroke of half-time.
This should have been a launching pad for a better second half performance, but we gave a goal away within a minute of the restart, losing possession from our throw-in near the halfway line. We continued to contest the match, but never really looked like getting back into it, and went further behind when Jamie Hards cleared the ball against one of his defenders and the rebound fell to a Tenterden player for a simple fourth goal.
Jake Wesley and Jamie Wickham worked hard up front, but both were guilty of lingering on the ball too long, rather than passing or getting a shot in. The back four were the stars again, and Mark Holden just got the nod for man of the match, ahead of Tom Ryan, Martin Hill and Ben Spring. |
